Ehsaas Programme scam: Dr Sania Nishtar tells people how to recognize fake messages

The recipient of a suspicious text message inquires from”Dr. Sania Nishtar if it is authentic, to which she responds that “it is absolutely fake”

A Special Assistant to Prime Ministers on Social Safety and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar on Sunday said that all official messages sent by Ehsaas Programme are sent via 8171. Ehsaas Programme are sent via the number 8171. All other numbers that are sending messages are an attempt to defraud.

The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program was introduced in April 2020, as part of the social protection initiative of the government, Ehsaas. It is designed to assist those in need who are facing financial difficulties as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Dr Nishtar is the key person in the program’s Rs203bn budget that oversees its execution across the country that includes the stipend amounting to Rs12,000 that was given to thousands of families.

“This message you have received is absolutely fake,” she informed the recipient of the text that stated that the grant amount of Rs33,500 had been granted and the number on the phone should be called to claim the grant.

Dr. Nishtar advised that anyone who receives these messages should contact them via SMS to 03351058050 and 03351058051.
